gotten into a british tv license intimidation rabbit hole. i found a blog where this guy has documented every single intimidating ‘you may be breaking the law by not having a tv license, we are going to send over an officer to investigate’ letter he’s gotten over the course of 19 years. he did a bunch of investigating to see if the tv scanner vans are real and how many there are. he found proof that the names of the representatives who write the emails are just straight up fake people. as far as i know he has never actually been visited by a tv license officer

tl;dr don’t pay for a tv license, these people are not cops and have zero legal power, if you just ignore their letters and refuse to let them in or tell them you’re watching tv they can’t actually do anything
